Weightless by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

Title: Weightless
Author: Kandi Steiner

Genre: New Adult/Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 16, 2016

I remember the lights.
I remember I wanted to photograph them, the way the red and blue splashed across his cold, emotionless face. But I knew even if my feet could move from the place where they had cemented themselves to the ground and I could run for my camera, I wouldn’t be able to capture that moment.

I had trusted him, I had loved him, and even though my body had changed that summer, he’d made sure to help me hold on to who I was inside, regardless of how the exterior altered.

But then everything changed.

He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process.

I remember the lights.

The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue.

They symbolized everything I endured that summer.

And everything I would never face again.

Christy's 5-Star Review:

Kandi Steiner is a new to me author. When I saw the gorgeous cover for Weightless, and an author I adore (B Cherry) recommended it, I knew I had to pick it up. I didn’t even look at the synopsis, I just read it. I was so pleasantly surprised. This story truly touched me. There were moments I cried- not because the part was sad per se, but because I could relate so strongly to this character and what she was going through. That doesn’t happen to me that often- finding a character that really relates to me like that, but Natalie did. I’m so happy I took a chance and picked this one up. It was truly a 5-star gem of a read for me!

It was the first time in my life I fully admitted to myself that I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t happy with who I was. Or how I looked. Or how I felt.
Natalie has just graduated high school and her life has changed in a big way. Her boyfriend of two years broke up with her, and she’s not sure what she wants to do with her life. Her family’s expectations and her own dreams aren’t the same. Not only that, she’s just not happy with herself. So she decides to make a change. She goes to a trainer at her town’s country club to try to get in shape. Her trainer happens to be a guy she remembers from high school. When she was a freshman, he was a senior. Rhodes was the guy who was always in trouble. He was a loner. There is something about Rhodes, that even early on, you know he is more than meets the eye. After spending some time training Natalie, he shows her that she is more than she thinks she is and needs to believe in herself.

“I push you because I believe in you. So when they get in your head, just think about that. Maybe it’s time to start believing in yourself, too.”

Rhodes helps make a lot of positive changes in Nat’s life, but he’s also very hot and cold. Their relationship is tumultuous at times, but they develop some sort of friendship. Rhodes makes her feel more comfortable with herself. But Rhodes hasn’t had an easy life. He grew up in the foster care system, he’s not got anyone in his life and he does some unsavory things to make a living. It’s apparent he has feelings for Natalie, but he doesn’t want that bad to touch her. He tries to stay away. Until he can’t.

“…Natalie. You, you’re weightless. The world hasn’t touched you yet. You’re not heavy with the weight of pain, and guilt, and selfishness. You’re light. Don’t ever lose that. Don’t let the world weigh you down like them. Like me.”

As I said earlier, Natalie is a character I could easily relate to. Some of the scenes in the book brought me to tears because I could just feel how she felt because I’ve been in situations like that. I adored Natalie and how she took control of her life. Rhodes, however, took me a longer to warm up to. His hot and cold personality turned me off at first, but once I realized why he was the way he was he grew on me and I started to love him as well! I loved the way he felt about Natalie and how good he made her feel about herself, just the way she was. They really did help heal each other.

“I can feel your heart too, Rhodes. You’re more that what you think you have to be”

THIS BOOK! I loved it so much and I want to recommend it to anyone who reads NA. Kandi’s writing is truly stunning. This story moved me. It was beautiful and angsty and emotional and even a bit mysterious. It was a truly powerful and exceptional read for me. I’ll never forget this one- Weightless is a 5-star read for me and going on my favorites list!

“I just don’t understand,” he said as he began rolling the ball up my calf. I moaned out loud, realizing that area was packed with trigger points, as he had called them.

“Don’t understand what?” I asked, still holding my breath as he rolled over my other calf. I leaned up on my elbows and turned my head back to meet his eyes.

He paused, holding the ball in place as he gazed back at me. “How could I never have noticed you before?”

I swallowed, almost more afraid of the brief tenderness I caught in his eyes in that moment than the usual hardness that existed there.

Shrugging, I answered his question just above a whisper. “I’m easy to miss.”

I held his eyes for a moment more before laying my chest back to the ground, resting my head on my arms. He started rolling the ball up my hamstrings and I closed my eyes tight. I thought I might explode from the mixture of pain and pleasure that rocked through my body. After a few moments, he spoke again.

“Maybe I just wasn’t looking.”

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her "freedom of press." She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn't working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine - not necessarily in that order.
