When I start a book and the very first line is-

If I had known I’d have a hot architect balls deep inside of me before the end of the weekend, I’d have made time for a pedicure.

It’s always a good sign!

Lauren has spent the last year of her life working non-stop to follow her dream. Opening her own school. It’s been tireless and never-ending, but she’s almost there. She just needs to find a location. That’s where Matthew enters. He’s an architect and willing to help Lauren. Matt is also a workaholic. His family runs their own business and he’s busy as ever. When Matt meets Lauren, he’s taken back by his reaction to her. Matt usually doesn’t go for curvy blondes, but Lauren has this naughty schoolteacher thing going on. It’s driving him wild.

Lauren and Matt really hit it off. One of their first meetings turns into more than just a meeting and sends Lauren running for the hills. But Matt won’t let her get too far. He is so attracted to Lauren. It’s more than just her body, it’s her drive, her mind, and her feistiness.

“You’re a mouthy little thing, you know that? I don’t know why, but I like it a lot.”

Lauren doesn’t do relationships. Not even no strings attached ones. She’s attracted to Matt, she likes him as a person, but she doesn’t have the time for any distractions, any complications. Matt tries to show her otherwise.

   photo 8ed74f0b-230a-48b1-88f5-f4518d039391_zpsc06b3983.jpg

Matt was damn near perfection. He’s a workaholic, sure. His family is a hot mess, yes. But he is so sweet, funny and sexy. I found him to be completely endearing. He saw something in Lauren and I liked how he worked for it. He didn’t let go when she pushed, he just pushed harder. Because he knew. Knew there was more there than she was letting on.

I wanted this place we created. Where she stopped caring about everything else, where the only thing that mattered was how we fit together. Where we could get lost in each other.

And I can’t review this book without mentioning the sex… it was crazy hot. And there was plenty of it!

   photo 6720f074-0b55-4319-be42-c10ce836d334_zpsc3903b4b.jpg

Obviously I liked this book a lot, so why not 5 stars? Honestly, I think it took way too long for the heroine to get it together. I understand being hesitant to get into a relationship and that work/following your dream is important but for the love of all things holy! She took too long to get it together (for me). I also would have loved at least one scene with Lauren’t parents or brothers… but that’s just me! Still, there was a lot I loved about this book, and even a lot I loved about Lauren. She wasn’t an annoying heroine. I liked her determination, how funny she was and her relationship with Matt’s family. She really stepped it up when they needed her.

Overall, I enjoyed this sweet, sexy and light read. It was one of those books that was an easy read, an entertaining and fun read, but had just enough emotion to balance it out. It was also hella hot! I like this author’s writing style and I’m looking forward to reading about some of Matt’s siblings! Especially Riley

Delinquents by Mary Elizabeth and Sarah Elizabeth

Christy's 5 star review!

   photo 48035b14-e9bc-45bd-925a-9e6d431d1a53_zpsafad7d15.jpg

Love is fucked-up, but love is all there is.

I should have known what I was getting myself into. After reading Dusty Innocents, there was a part of me that considered not reading the second installment. The first was just too torturous, too raw, too heart wrenching. But I couldn’t stop myself. I had to see what happened with Dusty and Bliss. I am glad I did. Delinquients was just as captivating, just as powerful, just as angsty and I loved it so much more than the first! I think I finally ‘get’ what all the hype was about when it came to the fan-fic. I didn’t get it after reading the first. Now I do!

Bliss and Dusty’s love story is painful to read. I think this quote sums it up perfect. The boy who can’t get his shit together, and the girl that loves him regardless.

I love a boy who can’t get his shit together, but without him I can’t breathe. Thomas is love to me, and this love runs deeper than my blood and stronger than my own sense of instinct and survival. This love is forever-bound.

As much as Bliss wants to hate Dusty sometimes, for all the lies he tells, the things he does, the way he leaves, the way he puts drugs over her. It’s impossible. She can’t hate this boy.

   photo ec5b3d45-9558-4066-8266-016de14acb1f_zpsc600b8ee.jpg

Dusty and Bliss are still ‘together’ in their own way. Everything is still a secret. It has to be. Bliss is underage, Dusty is using, there are just too many things that prevent them from being out in the open. That doesn’t stop Dusty from wanting to be. It broke my heart. If you read my first review, you’ll know I wasn’t the biggest Dusty fan. This book… he still had his moments, but this book, I really did love him. Even though drugs consumed him, I felt like he tried in other ways to be the guy Bliss needed. He was an addict, true- but he really did want to be with her in any and every way.

   photo 615b958a-2026-40c4-bdde-f8eaae65dabf_zpsf67ad4d2.jpg

Drugs enrapture him. They are his mistress. They are the main reason for their problems. His parents standing by doing nothing… I hate it. I understand Bliss is young and in love, she lets it go. She doesn’t get involved. But those parents. I spent so much of the book wondering what if? What if Bliss would have said yes to Dusty about not being a secret anymore? What if Tommy and Lucas would have opened their eyes and forced Dusty into rehab before he was 18 and he would have gotten clean. Would their story have been different?

We kiss with our eyes open, and hers tell the story of us:
dependence, lies, and misery.

   photo 96d8ee9d-cd91-447b-8739-c2a2373296df_zps90a4e3a1.jpg

"You and cocaine make me crazy."

Bliss was less young, less naive this book. but to be honest, I didn’t like her quite as much. That thing with Oliver. It made me a little uneasy. Dusty did have the one screw up, and he was on drugs lots, but he was more devoted in this one. I felt his love. His desperation. His heartache.
Although everyone still had multiple names (Thomas, Dusty, trouble, love, my heart etc.) I found it much easier to keep track of in this one.

I loved the crazy love. The intense love. The deep love. The painful love.

Dusty loves me too hard, too deep, too far, but it’s the kind of madness I crave. It hurts but it’s familiar to me and comfortable like hime, because loving this person has hurt for as long as I can remember.

   photo 7fe5c5d2-4c00-4182-a8d9-ee58073f152b_zps5b84ef31.jpg

There were some parts in the end that gutted me. The big confrontation. OMG. I was in tears. My skin was blotchy. My heart was beating out of my chest. You have to be in the right mood to enjoy this book. If you can’t do angsty, I wouldn’t recommend it for you. It’s just not for everyone. In the end, I’m glad I read it. like I said before, all I really wanted was for Bliss and Dusty to get to together. To get their happy. I am choosing to be optimistic. I am choosing that that HELLO? is something big and something good. Otherwise, I might cry again! I feel like that  Hello is the start of something.

This is a captivating read. An addictive read. It’s emotional. It’s intense. It’s an experience. A stressful experience. A heart breaking experience. And at times, a beautiful experience. One thing is for certain- it’s an unforgettable book. It’s a story that will stick with me. And that’s something that doesn't happen all the time. So it deserves 5 stars from this reader!

I'm broken, made of pieces, but my pieces are made of more than just love.

"I love you, girl. I love you.”

Catherine Pope got a second chance at love, only to have it ripped away—again. She should’ve known better.

But she dared to hope.

She refuses to let fate take the reins this time. Catherine decides she’s going to fight.

Jackson Cole risked it all.

He thought this time would be different.

With his loyalties pulling him in two directions—it’s time to make a choice…his past or his future.

Will they be beholden to their fears or will they both fight against their demons and finally find the love they both long for?

Review:
5 beholden stars!

Wow. Just wow. Jackson Cole stole my heart with Beholden. I loved him in Beloved, but finding out details about his past made me fall head over heels in flove with him.

I was so scared to read Beholden because of the way Beloved left off. Then Corinne kept sharing teasers that would make me flinch with worry. The anticipation was killer!!!

Corinne's writing is fantastic. She manages to grab you from page one and not let up until you have the book finished. She makes each and every character seem real. I seriously would love to fall into Jackson Cole's lap ;)

Beholden was full of angst and was so emotional for me. Beloved was jam packed full of angst too, so I know what to expect from her in the future. Another auto 1-click author!

If you are looking for a H that will blow your socks off, Jackson Cole is that man. If you want a heroine that knows what she wants and goes for it, Beholden is the book for you. (Just make sure to read Beloved first.)

I am very impressed with this author's work. When I read Beloved I was amazed at how written it was. Give this debut author a chance and go fall in love with her writing like I did!!

Beloved (Book One in the Belonging Duet)

Not enough.

Catherine Pope has never been enough. Every man she has ever loved abandoned her—from her father to her fiancé. She finally accepted the fact she would never be enough to hold any man’s heart and soul.

Then Catherine met Jackson Cole.

When her world literally collided with the sexy former Navy SEAL, everything she always believed is turned upside down and left scattered. He made her feel alive and desirable, consumed her with fierceness and loyalty—which completely unnerved her. Jackson got her in a way no one ever had, giving him the power to destroy her.

If she breaks down and gives him what’s left of her battered heart—will he protect it? Or will Catherine become an irrelevant part of yet another man’s life?

Will she get the one thing that has always evaded her – to finally be someone’s beloved?

Corinne is an emotional, witty, sarcastic, and fun loving mom of two beautiful children. She’s happily married to the man of her dreams and is a former Navy wife. After spending months away from her husband while he was deployed, reading and writing was her escape from the loneliness.

5+ Stars!

   photo 71a66155-5496-4851-ac07-c236f1239448_zpsb49856f4.jpg

After reading the Sempre books, I knew I wanted to know more about Corrado Morretti. There was just something about him… When I heard we were getting a Corrado book, I was ecstatic. It did not disappoint! In fact, it exceeded all my expectations. This book was fantastic. It will be going right towards the top of my favorites list for this year.

"What made you this way?"
"Sweetheart, I wouldn't even know where to begin.”

MADE is the story of Corrado Morretti. From his childhood, to teenage years, to adulthood. We get it all. The entire story.

Corrado’s childhood was not easy to read about. He learned from an early age how to take care of himself. The way the world worked. With an abusive mother, manipulative sister and absent father, it wasn’t easy. Corrado saw the work his father did with La Costa Nostra from a young age. It was a normal thing for him. Corrado learned to keep to himself, not to feel, not to form attachments. Until he meets a child named Celia DeMarco that is. When she comes back into his life when he’s a little older (maybe 19) everything changes.

He'd certainly met his match with her.

   photo 87212bf3-b5bd-4271-b30e-ba1b8d9fe32e_zps0ac37d58.jpg

Corrado is just finding his place in La Costa Nostra, where Celia’s father is the boss. Corrado’s feelings for Celia come back full force. She wants to be with him too… but he’s not sure if it’s possible. Celia is full of love and life. Quite the opposite of Corrado in a lot of ways. She trys to convince him otherwise.

"I know how to keep a secret," she said. "That's in my blood, too. And I know without a doubt that you know how, too. He wouldn't even have to know."

"You're worth more than that," Corrado said. "You deserve to be somebody's everything, not somebody's secret.”

Eventually, they are able to work things out with the boss.
The romance between Corrado and Celia was beautiful. If you ever think that someone that does the kind of work Corrado does can’t have true love, can’t be loyal and loving, you’re wrong.

   photo d1d2bdaa-2852-4091-9df0-f25c1bd113c1_zps10d5e1b6.jpg

There are a few parts of Corrado and Celia’s relationship that hurt my heart. Like the baby thing. I really felt for Celia, though I could sympathize with Corrado. With all he sees and the way he grew up.

We all know Corrado is a badass, but the way he was so sweet and swoony with Celia- I loved it! He might not have been the most traditional husband, but it’s the thought that counts. I laughed every time he brought her flowers. No matter what was going on in his life, Corrado never lost the love he had for Celia. Never looked at anyone else. He never strayed. Besides the job, she was his life. His reason for being. If thats not the most romantic thing, I don’t know what is.

"It's the way you're looking at me... it's like you've never seen something so beautiful before."

"I haven't."

"That's the way you're looking at me."

"And it bothers you?"

"I cant' live up to it. You put me on a pedestal. I'll only fall."

"You'll never fall. Not if I'm there to catch you."

   photo cef59e56-137b-4c2f-a900-edb1208cdc64_zps02743d76.jpg

Corrado was logical and thorough in his work. He didn’t think about the people, he thought about the job. Thats what it was to him. Just a job. Kill or be killed. Sink or swim. Corrado was always the killer, always the man swimming. Indestructible.
"The world made me this way. And maybe they all hate me, but still, they need me. Because without villains, there wouldn't be superheroes."

   photo e7bc8876-60f1-4574-beb8-ecbb138d241e_zps4f7fafee.jpg

His nickname was great. This book is more of a mafia book than the Sempre books. You’ll notice that Corrado is in much deeper than the DeMarco boys (Vincent and Carmine) ever were. I did enjoy getting the Vincent and Maura story. It was nice to see how that came about. You see a whole different side of Vincent as well.

I can’t think of one thing I didn’t love about this story. Getting to read about Corrado Morretti… it was perfect. Just so readers know, you technically don’t have to read the Sempre books to read this, but I highly recommend that you do. I think you’d get so much more out of this story. Plus, if you ever go back and read Sempre after this, there would be so much spoiled.

It’s no secret that I love Sempre and her Monster books, so for me to say that this is JM Darhower’s best book is a big deal. The writing was stellar. It’s a long book, but it doesn't feel long. It was so fast paced and captivating I didn’t realize I had been reading for hours until I looked up at the clock.

Even though Corrado Morretti is a ruthless killer, there is something about the way he loves his woman completely and eternally that makes him so beautiful and lovable. I just couldn’t get enough of Corrado and Celia’s story. I’m so grateful that JM Darhower decided to write this story and I can’t recommend it enough!

Ahhh but sometimes, it just is what it is. It was rich, well rounded, uncomfortable, exciting and scary (in multiple ways). Emotionally affecting. I lived it, I didn’t just read it, although I was VERY happy to be on this side of the book. *phew* I may enjoy the fictional thrill and I may like it crazy at times, but I’m very content on the “safe” side of life." -- Maryse, Maryse's Book Blog

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

SYNOPSIS

BOOK TWO OF THE DARK DUET
The exciting, titillating, and action-filled conclusion to Captive in the Dark.

What is the price of redemption?

Rescued from sexual slavery by a mysterious Pakistani officer, Caleb carries the weight of a debt that must be paid in blood.

The road has been long and fraught with uncertainty, but for Caleb and Livvie, it’s all coming to an end.

Can he surrender the woman he loves for the sake of vengeance?

Or will he make the ultimate sacrifice?

Quote:

It seemed to Caleb, the nature of human beings revolved around one empirical truth: we want what we cannot have. For Eve, it was the fruit of the forbidden tree. For Caleb, it was Livvie.

EPILOGUE:THE DARK DUET

EpilogueBoxset

SYNOPSIS

I'm writing this because you begged. You know how I love the begging. In fact, you probably know too many things and know them far too well. Who am I? Well, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I was a whore in my youth, a killer since my adolescence, and a monster as a man. I am the man who kidnapped Livvie. I am the man who held her in a dark room for weeks. But, most importantly, I am the man she loves. She loves me. It's quite sick, isn't it? Of course, there's more to our story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I'm at a loss for justifying my behavior back then. I assume if you're reading this, I don't need to make those justifications. You've already made your own. You're reading this because you want to know about the rest of the story. You want to know what happened that warm summer night in September of 2010, the night I met Livvie at The Paseo. It was the night my life changed all over again. It didn't happen exactly as Livvie said. She's been very kind to me in the retelling of our story. The truth is far more...complicated
